I wanted to show in this scene that while there are some humans that are pretty sinister and evil, there are some that aren't so. There's varying reactions to what happened in the temple, including the woman and her two children. Hopefully that came across. I'm actually not a fan of the trope where "humans are bad and make-believe races are good!".
